Most Austin-area baseball teams had Game 1 of their area-round playoff series delayed by weather Thursday, but Westwood, Rouse and East View all took impressive wins.

Class 6A

Westwood 10, San Antonio Brandeis 6: Ridge Morgan went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs, Grant Boren had an RBI double and Jackson Gula finished 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored as the Warriors moved to one win away from the regional quarterfinals with the victory at Northside ISD Sports Complex in San Antonio. The game was tied 3-3 entering the fourth before Boren smacked his run-scoring double and Morgan followed later in the inning with a two-run double to highlight a five-run frame. Owen Norrell, Jacob Wright, Antonio Martinez and John Ramsey combined for Westwood’s efforts on the mound.

Game 2 will be Friday night at Westwood High School.

New Braunfels 1, Dripping Springs 0 (8): Luke Holt's walkoff single in the bottom of the eighth at New Braunfels High School gave the Unicorns the series lead. Taylor Tracey struck out five in two innings and Blake Cox fanned six in five innings to lead the Tigers.

Class 5A

Rouse 10, San Antonio Alamo Heights 1: Rayner Heinrich went 3-for-5 with three doubles, an RBI and two runs scored, Landon Miller hit a two-run homer, and Xander Forsell finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Raiders to an easy win in the series opener at Alamo Heights.
